ADI Forum member Brian McDiarmid is aiming to raise as much money as possible to support the Beatson Oncology Centre in Glasgow.

The event which will take place during the summer is a mass driving lesson of over 100 miles and will travel through some of the most stunning scenery that Scotland has to offer. Any driving instructors wishing to bring a pupil along for this day should charge the usual fee, it is up to the individuals’ conscience to decide whether they donate their fee or not. Each instructor taking part will be required to pay a donation of £25 to enter. Sponsorship forms to take part in this event can be downloaded from the forum. A ferry company will be assisting in bringing the cars back across the Clyde at the end of the journey.

The route is: Depart Largs on the A78 to Greenock and join the A8 to Bishopton, follow the road to Erskine and cross the bridge (no toll). Join the A82 Loch Lomondside road to the left turn to Glen Douglas pass the nuclear missile silos and continue down very steep hill to Loch Long and Arrochar for lunch. Depart Arrochar and follow road to the Rest and be Thankful and continue to Dunoon, from there it is a short ferry trip to Gourock for the final 20 minute drive back to Largs.

The Driving Instructors Big Event 2006 could be included in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest driving lesson in history.
